For pet food, treat and supply brands
Pet store orders, even handwritten ones, typed into Shopify for you
Independent pet stores and groomers often order on a paper form, snap a photo and text or email it. Orderseam reads it, matches every flavor, bag weight and fit to your catalog, and makes the Shopify draft order, flagging anything it can’t be sure of.

What your buyers’ POs look like
- Handwritten forms photographed on a phone, sometimes smudged
- Flavors and bag weights: “chkn 4 oz”, “salmon 1 lb bags”
- Collar and harness fits in XS to XL, with colors like “green” for Olive
- Shorthand like “poop bags” for your waste bag 8 pack
- Items you don’t carry, added “if you have them”
A sample order, line by line
From a made-up handwritten order form, photographed on a phone. Each line shows what the buyer wrote, what Orderseam put on the Shopify draft order, and why.
| Buyer wrote | On the draft order | Result |
|---|---|---|
8101 salmon bites 4oz - 12 | Training Bites / Salmon / 4 oz × 12 | Matched Flavor and bag weight matched |
8101 chkn 4 oz - 18 (smudged) | Not added yet | Flagged for you Smudged: reads 18, could be 12. You pick |
8103 collar green S 3 M 3 | Waxed Canvas Collar / Olive / S × 3, M × 3 | Fixed “Green” is your only green collar, Olive |
poop bags 8pk x10 | Not added yet | Flagged for you Shorthand you confirm once; it’s remembered for this store |
8105 cat wand x6 | Not added | Flagged for you No cat wand in the catalog |
Nothing goes to the buyer until you approve the draft. Flagged lines wait for you, and you can fix any line before you approve.
What Orderseam handles
- Flavor, Weight and Size options under whatever names your store uses
- Bag weights in oz, lb, g and kg, matched as written
- Fits from XS to XL, and colors written loosely
- Each store’s shorthand, remembered after you pick the product once
- Cases of treats as units or as your case-pack variant
It works with POs as PDFs, Excel, Word or CSV files, email text and phone photos, and alongside the wholesale or B2B app you already use. From an approved order it can also make the Net-terms invoice and send payment reminders. See how it works.
What your store needs
Products with options such as Flavor, Weight or Size, a SKU on each variant and your wholesale prices. Our team sets up the matching with you, including the nicknames your buyers use.
Not handled yet
- Tracking lots and expiry dates in your stock. Lots written on a PO are copied onto the order, not tracked.
- Price per pound or catch weight.
- EDI orders from big-box retailers.
Anything Orderseam can’t read with confidence is flagged for you, never guessed. The full list for every category is on our home page.
How we test it
Our pet test set has a handwritten order photographed on a phone (14 lines, including a smudged quantity) and a reorder by email (8 lines, with plurals like “rope tugs”): 22 order lines in all. All 22 match today. It’s our own test set of made-up orders, rerun on every change, not customer results. Read more about how we test.
Common questions
- Can Orderseam read a handwritten pet store order form?
- Yes. A phone photo of a paper form is read like any other PO. If a number is smudged or unclear, the line is flagged with both possible readings for you to pick, never guessed.
- What about the store’s own nicknames for products?
- The first time a store writes something like “poop bags”, the line is flagged and you pick the product. Orderseam remembers it for that store, so the next order matches on its own.
- Does it work with flavors and bag weights?
- Yes. Flavor and Weight are matched as separate options, and a bag weight you don’t sell is flagged rather than swapped for a different bag.
